The Filipino Community and our Community Servant-Priest, Fr. Leny S. Escalada, OFMCap., invite the Filipino faithful to the celebration of Holyween 2022. Themed “Saints: Our Models in Faith, Values and Holiness”, the celebration reminds us of the connectedness of all Christians. 

Holyween is our community’s celebration of “All Hallow’s Eve”,  the vigil to “All Saints’ Day” celebrated on November 1, followed by “All Souls’ Day” which is celebrated on November 2. The Church is a Communion of Saints, a Catholic teaching that God’s people who are in heaven (Triumphant Church), on earth (Pilgrim Church or Church Militant), and in the state of being cleansed (Church being purified) are one and united. 

These celebrations show the communion of believers connected to Christ and to one another:

“Being more closely united to Christ, those who dwell in heaven fix the whole Church more firmly in holiness….They do not cease to intercede with the Father for us… by their fraternal concern is our weakness greatly helped.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 956)
