MULTIMEDIA MINISTRY

MULTIMEDIA MISSION:

Bringing Jesus closer to the faithful through modern technology and social media platforms.

 In support of FILCOM MISSION:

‘Working as one body in upholding and proclaiming the love of Christ by serving others through prayer and action.’

MULTIMEDIA VISION:

Jesus is present in every Filipino’s heart and home.

In support of FILCOM Vision :

‘A unified community called to evangelize and strengthen the faith of Christ-like Overseas Filipinos.’

We are FILCOM’s means in media and communication. Yet we evolve according to the direction of FILCOM.

Apart from our daily social media activity, we are involved in the promotion of FILCOM activities throughout the year, including the promotion of parish activities as directed by FILCOM Core.

Responding to the need of the Catholic overseas Filipinos at St. Mary’s, especially those who cannot come to church, Fr. Chito set up RDIM in 2015. The initial project, FILCOM website: smcfilipino.com was officially launched in September 2015. This progressed unto other social media platforms like FACEBOOK and LIVE STREAMING of masses -our most engaging media to date. Instagram and YouTube soon followed.

FILCOM was first at St. Mary’s to provide to the Filipino faithful with online celebrations of the mass, feasts, and the rosary through Zoom and Facebook. This virtual engagement was significantly highlighted during the pandemic where we promptly re-conceptualized our delivery. Retreats and other FILCOM programs were successfully carried out online. Retreats involving international and local speakers and preachers were made possible online.

RDIM membership includes mostly of those who are already involved in other FILCOM ministries. We therefore have first-hand experience of what is needed. Our platforms understandably required social media materials: artworks, articles, photos, videos, and the initial resources of writers and designers expanded to photographers, videographers, video editors, video creators and even sound editors. As volunteers came forward, their expertise opened possibilities to active use of more diverse media like YouTube, Instagram and even more engaging FB/Live Streaming (with the Technical Team).

Core Values

TRUTH:

The truth about Christ and the dignity of the human person. We ensure that we research, verify and protect our work.

TRUST:

Rallying behind FILCOM which promotes CHRIST, RDIM strongly encourages this value in our members. We must be persons who disregard personalities, the focus is to promote Christ. We work not to impress but to share Jesus. This further promotes trust on our works across all media and with other ministries.

HUMILITY:

We point everything to Jesus. Those members are also open to new ideas, new ways and new technology. Collaboration, unity, and partnership are encouraged. Obedience is also encouraged, with the single focus -promote Jesus.

CHARITY:

In a very aggressive media involvement, this value centers on the person of the volunteer. The volunteer is a human being and we hope to accompany and value him/her in his/her journey as a member of our ministry, as an expat, and a child of God.

“We do our best, God will do the rest.”

We encourage service in this order after God: family, work, service.

MEMBERSHIP:

Most active members are also active in other FilCom ministries. We also invite volunteer members to address FilCom’s seasonal needs. We work closely with Technical Team and are continuously open for new members, collaboration, and partnership.

Function and Roles

R stands for RESEARCH

Involves catechetical, formation and Scriptural contents.

D stands for DOCUMENTATION

Since we take charge of communication and media, our materials are used for documentation. Considering our human resources, this is practically what we can achieve and deliver: published reports. We maintain a hard drive, and cloud storage. While we were initially thought to be the ‘go to’ to cover every FilCom event, this eventually narrowed down due to our limited resources.
